Du'as for situations of need and gaining knowledge
The regular school-year for our kids is coming to an end. They will have their final exams at the end of May. Can you tell us which Dua's our kids should recite while studying for the tests and also which Dua's are recommended for reciting right before starting the test? Please provide the meaning too.
Answer:
There is no specific Dua to be recited at the time of a school exam. Any one of the following may be recited. The Prophet (peace be upon him) prescribed these for general situations of need and for gaining knowledge, not specifically for exams. But students can memorize these and use them throughout their lives.
Transliteration: Allahumma anfa’aani bimaa allamtani wa allimni maa yanfa’ooni
Translation: Oh Allah! Make useful for me what you taught me and teach me that which will benefit me.
Transliteration: Rabbi zidni ilma
Translation: My Lord, increase me in knowledge.
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as’aluka ilman naafi’a
Translation: O Allah, I ask of you knowledge which is beneficial.
Transliteration: Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja’altahu sahla. Wa anta taj’alul hadhana idha shi’ta sahla
Translation: Oh Allah! Nothing is easy except what you have made easy. If you wish, you can make the difficult easy.
Transliteration: Hasbi Allahu la ilaaha illa hu. Alayhe tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbul arshil-azeem
Translation: Allah is sufficient for me, none has the right to be worshipped except him.
In him I place my trust and he is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.
